Lazy duplicate write-ups continue… Moving to a new home, travel, planting a garden, and getting settled have taken my time! Argh!! 🏡🔧🪴✅🙄
Basic download on the bundle… before I wax poetic about non game related things… 😉
I have loved Alban Viard’s creations since the very first time I played Clinic. Then there was Tramways… and then the Tramways Engineer’s Workbook followed (still my FAVORITE game to bring along on a flight or a train ride – AWESOME!)… and I was hooked!
(scroll to the bottom of this listing to see some of these games in the shop)
Of course, it does not hurt that Alban is another amazing human in the board game universe!!
So when Alban sent word that he and Todd Sanders were working on a new “Nano 9” series of games… my interest was piqued!
<Orson… this is Mork. Come in, Orson!>
No not that Nano… 😂 I know, I am ridiculous.
Anyway… Nano 9 was a concept that would ultimately include 9 games… all of which were small in size and required 9 cards, 9 dice, and 9 cubes to play. This box set is the first three games in the series – Railways, City Planner, and Empire. And, what is really cool.. is that you can combine all three of these games to play a new, larger, 2 player game called Empire Planners – all you need is the components from the three games in this box set… and the new rules for Empire Planners… which you can find HERE. 😉
And, I have to say it again… SUCH a cool twist! (the creating of a composite game) I LOVE THIS! 🥰
Bantering now commences about life and gardening and time…
(Scroll down to “Bundle Details” if you have no patience for my meandering prose 😆)
Hello all! OK… let’s see. First, let me admit that nothing has TAKEN my time (as I noted above)… hehe. I have chosen to apply my time to those things.. and well, I wanted to at least be honest about that. 😉 I am the pilot of my spaceship… or at least the co-pilot… haha. 🚀👽
❓
Although, with that admission complete, I will also admit that it is very difficult to sit inside and generate game write ups when the weather is gorgeous and I want to be outside.
Sooooo… I guess I have chosen to make less time for write ups… which is painful to admit to myself… but I promise that eventually, I will get back to my side-splitting commentary and banter. HONEST! Until then, if you’re missing my poetic yarns… shoot me a text and we can chat directly for a minute. I’m always happy to hear from a fellow Upstart! ☺️❤️
Also, I should note that planting a garden is insanely fun! Sure, it was also a lot of work and sweat… and bug bites… haha. But it was SO worth it! Everything is starting to grow… and I am especially excited to see that the corn and sunflower seeds given to me by one of my favorite LITRPG authors, Terry W. Ervin II, have started to grow!
Random side note… I am a HUGE fan of LITRPG and I am always on the hunt for the latest and greatest in that genre. I played D&D as a teenager and well.. that adventurer storyline still appeals to me a great deal.
<seriously… if this is painful to read… scroll down to see the bundle deets!>
<ohhh… I should grow beets! Darn you A.D.D.>
Anyhoo… I stumbled across Terry’s “Monsters, Maces and Magic” series a year or two ago and I read every book in the series! SO GOOD!!!
He mentioned something about planting corn in his newsletter and I wrote back and the next thing you know he was sending me some seed samples. The first batch got lost on their way through the mail… so he sent a second batch… all at his cost! He is a wonderful human and I sincerely appreciated that he pressed on with a second batch to try and get them through!!
So for me, seeing those seeds bloom is especially gratifying! 🌱😃
Also, if you’re a fan of LITRPG… check out his series… I promise you.. it will not disappoint!
Here’s a link to his site –> TERRY’S WEBSITE IS HERE
The books are all available on Amazon and are part of Kindle Unlimited. I do not gain anything monetary – or otherwise – by you clicking that link. I am just super excited by LITRPG and I know it can be hard to find a new author in the genre… And well, I do like to try and help… ☺️
See… I still have some bantering in me! Hahaha… 🙄
OK… OK… moving along… 😉

Railways:
In the middle of the 19th century, the time of the Industrial Revolution, you must take advantage of the steam age and build your railroad empire by developing railroads, expanding buildings, and moving passengers to make the most profit at the end of twelve rounds!
Railways is the first game in the “Nano9games” family. With 9 cards, 9 dice, and 9 cubes, you must build a network and connect the buildings to move passengers. You will use cards and icons to perform actions. During each round, play cards to combine icons to perform actions:
- Build a link
- Move a passenger
- Build a building
- Upgrade an existing link
- Take money
- Decrease pollution
- Add a new passenger
If you play two icons from the same card, you must increase your pollution. Your goal is to make as much profit as possible, and you earn money when you move passengers through links and buildings…
With a second set of cards — and dice and cubes in a different color — you can play Railways with two players.
City Planner:
City Planner is a 9 cards, 9 cubes, 9 dice version of Town Center mixed with Card City and dice. Your Small City is divided into several blocks that contain different boroughs (Residential, Commerce, Industry, Cultural Buildings, City Hall or mixed zoning of Residential and Commerce).
It is a dice game where you decide where to place/block/affect the dice to get the most money/VP.
During the game players will do the following four phases in order: Rolling Dice, Passing a Card, Scoring All Cards, Turn End.
The game ends after 8 rounds.

Create a manufacturing Empire in 30 years (15 turns) by building factories, producing Capital, Materials, Commodities, and Goods, and earn as much Profit as you can.
Needed to Play:
9 Game Cards
7d6 to track workers (Worker Dice)
1d6 to track The Market (Market Die)
1d6 to track Managers (Managers Die)
9 eurocubes (8mm suggested) as tracking markers
