Super fast write ups of early Winter… ⛄️❄️
Hello all!
I returned safely from Europe and Morocco! I shared some time with my good friend Randy (Hanging out on Long Island, visiting with friends in Brooklyn, attending PAX Unplugged). Awesome as always!
I’ve gotten my Uncle’s home’s set for winter (after some oil burner repair calls and such). And now… it is time to get these new games into the shop! Sadly, you will see this sentiment (and even these exact words) on all the new games this week (DEC 15, 2024) as I’m going to copy/paste the basic write-up into each new game.

This Upstart bundle includes the Deluxe Edition of Canopy: Evergreen by the good people at Weird City Games! And… that’s it. Just the game! 😉
Continuing on in the spirit of Canopy, Evergreen is a stand-alone game that features engaging gameplay, solid mechanics, beautiful artwork… and folks… it looks mighty nice on the table. So sweeeeeet! 🤩 Don’t feel like going outside on a hike because it’s 30 degrees out? Grab a copy of Evergreen and visit the forest from in front of your wood burning stove (or other suitably warm setting). 🌲
Of course, we all know I am a huge Tim Eisner fan.. so I am always super excited when he and his team release another hit! ❤️ Thank you for understanding and tolerating me, friends!

Description
The 2024 release of Canopy: Evergreen – the Deluxe Edition is here!! Once again, teh creative geniuses at Weird City Games have knocked it out of the park! Canopy was FANTASTIC… and evergreen continues along that path at a welcome clip! Bravo! 🎉
Underneath the dense canopy of the Pacific Northwest rainforests, a thriving ecosystem exists. Schools of salmon swim upstream, wildflowers and lush ferns dot the mossy floor, and a gray wolf looks for its next meal. In Canopy: Evergreen, players compete to grow the tallest trees, collect sets of wild plants, and create bountiful habitats to help native animals thrive.
In the game, players take turns selecting new cards for their forest from three growth piles. Each time you look at a pile, you may select it and add those cards to your rainforest tableau, or return the pile face down, adding one additional card to it. As the piles grow, you must search for the plants and animals that will benefit your forest the most — but choose carefully as mingled in with the flora and fauna are dangers in the form of fire, disease, and drought. After three seasons, the player who has grown the most bountiful rainforest wins!
Canopy: Evergreen is a standalone game featuring card drafting and set collection similar to the original Canopy game, with new rules for collecting food, growing trees on your forest board to gain permanent bonuses, and nourishing interactive wildlife. Get lost in the evergreen forest with new plants, animals, and environmentally-friendly 3D tree tokens that grow while you play the game!
